Notice of Cybersecurity Incident
The privacy and security of the personal information we maintain is of the utmost importance to Menominee County (“Menominee”).
On or about August 21, 2024, Menominee experienced unauthorized access to our network. Upon learning of this issue, we immediately initiated a prompt and thorough investigation. As part of our investigation, we have been working very closely with external cybersecurity professionals experienced in handling these types of incidents. After an extensive forensic investigation and comprehensive internal review, we determined on June 10, 2025, that some personal information stored on our network may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized individual. Elements of Personal information varied per individual but included: Social Security number, medical information, and username and password information.
Menominee has no evidence that any personal information has been or will be misused as a direct result of this incident. Out of an abundance of caution, individuals are encouraged to take steps to protect themselves against identity fraud, including placing a fraud alert/security freeze on their credit files, obtaining free credit reports, and remaining vigilant in reviewing financial account statements and credit reports for fraudulent or irregular activity on a regular basis.
Menominee takes this matter seriously. We continually evaluate and modify our practices and internal controls to enhance the security and privacy of the information we maintain, and we are taking steps to mitigate the risk to persons impacted by this incident.
