MISSION STATEMENT: The use of the unmanned aircraft system (UAS) by the Menominee County Sheriff's Office is expected to enhance officer and public safety. Anticipated mission deployments will include: accident scene documentation, outdoor crime scene documentation, search for missing persons, search for subjects/ wanted persons within defined area, disaster recovery and assessment, tactical response operations and training.
The Menominee County Sheriff's Office UAS program is designed to assist law enforcement by providing increased situational awareness, enhanced officer safety, and act as a force multiplier to improve operating efficiency. Department policy will set forth how the UAS program will operate the aircraft in coordination with law enforcement officers conducting a specific mission as guided by Federal Aviation Regulation Rules, 14 CFR Part 107. This policy is designed to minimized risk to people, property, and aircraft during the operation of the UAS while continuing to safeguard the right to privacy by all persons and furthermore comply with Wis Stat. 175.55.
